Bottle Terrarium
What you’ll need
- a clean, empty Fruit Simple® Fruit Smoothie bottle
- dirt or potting soil
- grass seed or other seeds
- scissors
- water
- sunlight
Steps
- Have Mom or Dad cut the label off your Fruit Simple® Fruit Smoothie bottle.
- Fill the bottle 2/3 of the way full of dirt.
- Sprinkle a few seeds inside.
- Cover with another layer of dirt about 1 inch thick. (If you’re using grass seed, skip this step.)
- Pour about ¼ - ½ cup of water into the bottle.
- Close the lid and set in a sunny place.
- Watch your plants grow!
Bottle Bank
When your Fruit Simple® Fruit Smoothie bottle is empty, save up to buy another!
What you’ll need:
- An empty Fruit Simple® Fruit Smoothie bottle
- White acrylic paint (found at craft stores)
- Colored permanent markers
- Scissors
Steps
- Wash the bottle.
- Have an adult cut a coin slit near the top of the bottle.
- Cover the bottle in white acrylic paint, then let dry.
- Decorate and doodle on it with permanent markers. Be sure to sign it so you know whose change is inside!

Seedling Starter
Make your bottle into a flower pot for seedlings and saplings!
What you’ll need:
- An empty Fruit Simple® Fruit Smoothie bottle
- Flower seeds
- Potting soil
- Scissors
Steps
- Wash the bottle.
- Have an adult cut it in half horizontally so there’s a bottom and a top. Be careful not to leave any sharp edges.
- Have an adult poke a hole in the bottom so the soil can drain. This becomes the flower pot.
- Fill the bottom with potting soil and pack it well. Make sure to fill it until just an inch from the cut line.
- Turn the top of the bottle (with the lid on) upside down and press it into the center of the soil. This will make an indentation where you can put the seed. Recycle the top half—you no longer need it.
- Plant the seed in the indentation, then cover with soil.
- Water and watch it grow!
